Working families can receive help with childcare fees, if you

All families must pay by standing order, as this minimises risk
to the club and reassures safety to staff and families.

Sickness/Absenteeism
Parents MUST inform the Play Leader if their child is off sick/absent from school. Failure to do so may lead to staff and children waiting needlessly in adverse weather conditions and disrupts the running of the club. Should your child require to be admitted to hospital please inform the Play Leader as soon as possible as all places MUST be paid for, except in exceptional circumstances which will be decided by the committee.
Holidays During Term Time
Please inform the Play Leader, in advance, if your child is going to be on holiday during the school term.
Insurance
Insurance will be organised by ANSVAR. The club will not be held liable for any loss or damage to personal property on Club premises or on outings.
Change of Information
Please inform the Play Leader of any changes to the information we hold regarding your child e.g. change of address/telephone number, health issues, etc, as and when the changes occur.
Discipline
Parents/carers will be informed of, and involved in, any difficulties regarding their child’s behaviour at the club. The Club will try to resolve any difficulties by developing joint strategies with parents concerned. However, if attempts fail, the committee reserve the right, as a last resort, to exclude a child from the club.
Notice
Parents/carers who no longer wish to use the Club will be required to give a minimum of four week’s
notice in writing.
Complaints Procedure
The Play Leader will be happy to discuss any suggestions or comments that parents/carers may have. Alternatively parents can contact a member of the Management Committee directly. Any complaints can also be taken directly to The Care Commission Musselburgh. Their contact telephone number is 0131 653 4100
Fire Safety
Your child will be signed in every day and you must sign them out when you come to collect him or her.
Fire drills will also be carried out regularly with the children.
Lost Property
Any lost property will be placed in a bag designated for this purpose. If you cannot find any lost items then please ask at the office.
Breakages
Should any breakages occur by a child, which the Play Leader considers to have been caused maliciously, the parent/carer of that child will be asked to pay for a replacement.
Outings
You will be informed well in advance of any outing or trip that we propose. It is likely that you will be asked to make a contribution but we fundraise regularly to keep these costs to a minumum.
Appropriate permissions will be sought.
Snacks and Lunch
All children will require a packed lunch if they have not already had one when attending for a full session. Healthy snacks, which are varied daily, will be provided when the children arrive at the Club.
Behavioural Policy
STAFF
All members of staff have agreed to the terms and conditions of their employment, which means that they must conform to the Code of Behaviour as outlined in their Contract. The Staff complaints procedure is also outlined in the staff contract.
CHILDREN
Staff members seek to be consistent in promoting positive behaviour.
1. When a child exhibits unacceptable behaviour, a staff member will explain why it is not acceptable.
2. The staff member will seek to ensure that it is the behaviour, and not the child, which is being criticised.
3. If a child continues to behave in an unacceptable way, the staff member will record a brief description of the behaviour in a book kept for this purpose.
4. In cases of continued unacceptable behaviour, the staff member might consider a ‘time out’ period for the child. This will give the child time to cool down and consider his/her actions.
5. The staff should consider whether or not to discuss continued negative behaviour with the parent/carer.
6. The procedure regarding a child’s continued unacceptable behaviour would be:-
a. Verbal discussion with Play Leader
b. Written letter from the Management Committee
c. A meeting with the Management Committee and Play Leader to discuss the situation. Unless the matter is resolved, the child could lose his/her place
d. The parent/carer should be informed, in writing, of any decisions taken by the Management Committee.

This club wishes to provide a quality care service where every child is respected as an individual. We feel strongly that the needs of the child should be the primary focus of the club. We will ensure that the needs of all children are met by adhering to our Quality Principles.
Quality Principles 1. Staff Recruitment and Training
i. The Play Leader will identify any possible staffing requirements which will be submitted to the Management Committee for consideration. The management will agree the staff member’s job description, minimum qualifications and experience and the salary. Thereafter, posts will be advertised in local and national press. Interviews will be conducted by someone from the Management Committee and the Play Leader.
ii. All staff members will be subject to a Disclosure Scotland check as required by the Care Commission. Staff and volunteers will receive training to reach their full potential and the club shall facilitate the continuing education and development of each individual member and volunteer.
iii. Regular staff meetings shall be held to maintain good communications and to review good practices. Staff and volunteers will also ensure that the religious and cultural beliefs of the users shall be respected.
iv. We shall follow the minimum staff ratios, as approved by the local authority.
2. Games and Activities
i. There shall be a varied and structured programme of games and activities which shall reflect the age and interests of the children as individuals, promoting social interaction on an equal level.
ii. The children will be consulted on a regular basis so that games and activities are provided in response to their suggestions. There will always be a broad programme of varied activities so as to ensure that all children have a choice as to their activities.
iii. Play workers will ensure that all games and activities are devised in a way that enables every child to participate fully. Each child will be encouraged to learn to respect themselves and others, through play activities. We aim to provide good quality play and educational materials, which can be used to promote social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development in the children.
3. Food and Snacks
i. A healthy snack will be provided at the club when the children arrive. Any dietary or cultural requirements of the children will be met. These requirements can be discussed with parents and noted on the registration form.
ii. We follow all Health and Safety Regulations in the preparation of any food stuffs and aim to buy only good quality provisions.
4. Premises and Access
i. The premises meet accepted standards and conform to Health and Safety Requirements as well as Fire Regulations.
ii. We have an agreed standard of cleanliness and all members of staff take care to ensure that the premises remain clean and safe for its users.
